Terms of Service

1. Who can use Staked

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. Staked deals with adult-content avoidance and handles real money, so it is not for minors. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.

2. What Staked does

You set a commitment to stay porn-free for a period you choose, and you back it with a refundable deposit. You install the Staked watcher on your devices. While your commitment is active, the watcher looks for pornographic content on your screen and helps enforce content filtering. If it detects a violation, or detects that the protections have been disabled or tampered with, that is recorded against your commitment and you forfeit your deposit. Money on the line, immediate consequences.

Staked is a behavioral accountability tool. It is not a medical device, therapy, or clinical treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional help. If you are struggling with compulsive behavior, please also consider speaking with a qualified professional.

3. Your deposit, refunds, and forfeiture

This is the most important section. Please read it carefully.

• When you start a commitment, you choose a deposit amount (your "stake"). We charge your stake plus a card processing fee at that time.
• If you keep your commitment — no violations and no tampering — your full stake is refunded to you after the commitment period ends. The card processing fee is charged by the payment network and is not refundable.
• If you relapse or disable/tamper with the protections during your commitment, your stake is forfeited. Tampering includes uninstalling the app on your committed devices, removing the DNS or tampering with the local screen monitoring. You agree that this forfeiture is a fair, pre-agreed consequence that you chose, and not a penalty imposed on you.
• Forfeited deposits are donated to Fight the New Drug, a registered nonprofit. We do not keep your forfeited stake. We earn from subscriptions, not from your slip-ups.
• A deposit can only be released after the commitment period has ended. You can request the release from any device given they no tampering has been recorded.

4. Detection, mistakes, and appeals

Detection is automated and, like any automated system, it is not perfect. Even though our system is extremely reliable, if you believe a violation or tampering event was recorded in error, contact us at support@usestaked.com and we'll review the evidence. If genuine error occurred, we'll make it right.

5. Subscription and billing

Access to Staked requires a subscription, billed on a recurring basis through our payment processor until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your billing settings; cancellation stops future charges but doesn't refund the current period. Subscription fees are separate from your commitment deposit.

6. Using it honestly

Staked only works if you let it work. You agree not to disable, bypass, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the watcher or its protections while a commitment is active, except by ending the commitment through the normal process. Attempting to cheat the system is treated as a violation and has immediate consequences to your pocket: don't do it.

7. Disputes and chargebacks

If you have a billing concern, please contact us first — we're reachable and we'd rather sort it out directly. Because you explicitly agree to the forfeiture terms before each deposit, a forfeited stake backed by a recorded violation or tampering attempt is not an unauthorized or mistaken charge.

8. Disclaimers

Staked is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will catch every instance, or be available without interruption. We are not liable for relapses, missed detections, or personal outcomes related to your use of the service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in subscription fees over the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

10. Ending your account

You can stop using Staked at any time. Note that ending a commitment early, or removing the watcher while a commitment is active, follows the forfeiture rules in Section 3. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use Staked after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law and contact
