Staked watcher runs in the background on your devices, capturing screens and sending heartbeats / violations to your account.
Using an iPhone?
Apple doesn’t let any app monitor your screen in the background, so Staked can’t enforce a commitment on iPhone or iPad. We won’t hold your stake when we can’t catch a relapse. Enforcement runs on Windows, macOS, or Android. If you’re serious about quitting, we recommend you switch to Android.
Installing on Android
Staked isn’t on the Play Store — Google restricts accountability apps that watch your screen — so you install the APK directly:
- Open the downloaded .apk and tap Install. If Android warns about an unknown app, tap Settings → allow from this source, then install.
- Open Staked and follow the setup steps.
- Android 13+: if the Accessibility toggle is greyed out, go to Settings → Apps → Staked → ⋮ (top-right) → Allow restricted settings, then enable Accessibility. This is Android’s extra step for apps installed outside the Play Store and it’s expected.
Windows shows a blue “protected your PC” screen?
That’s normal for a newly released app. Click More info → Run anyway to continue, then approve the admin prompt so the watcher can set up protection.
You can install the watcher on multiple devices. Commitments in your dashboard can later be attached to specific devices for enforcement.
